Food Equity in 2025
Food insecurity has become one of the most pressing issues in our community. Demand for SNP’s food equity programs has risen sharply in recent years, and food costs are continuing to climb. Unfortunately, funding levels haven't kept pace, making it increasingly challenging to meet this growing need in our community. As a result:

This year, SNP is dedicating our Giving Season Campaign towards strengthening food equity in our community.
With your support, we aim to:
- Reduce waitlists for our food programs.
- Replace aging kitchen equipment.
- Offset the high cost of purchasing quality ingredients.
- Strengthen community partnerships to build sustainable, community-led food security solutions.
SNP Food Equity Programs
- Family Dinner to Go – Provides nutritious, freshly prepared take-home meals to families facing food insecurity. This program helps relieve stress for families while improving access to healthy food.
- Community Kitchens – Offers families a welcoming space to connect and prepare meals to take home, with free childminding to make the program more accessible to caregivers.
- Cooking Connections – A new collaboration with the District of Saanich launched this fall. This program invites adults 55+ who may be facing isolation to connect, learn kitchen skills, and take home healthy meals.
- Food Skills programs for families and youths – Empowers families and teens with practical food skills, nutritional knowledge, and cooking confidence for healthier, affordable, and enjoyable meals.
- Community Fridges – A free resource of bread, produce, and other pantry items available on a self-serve basis.
- Healthy snacks and lunch for children in our care – Over 100 children per week are supported through this program.

- 70 Community Family Dinners offered
- 5,415 individuals served through Family Meals
- 39 Community Kitchens hosted, with 305 complete take-home family meals prepared

Saturday, Nov. 29 (12pm to 4pm) – Pop-up photos with Santa
Thursday, Dec. 11 (1pm to 5pm) – Pop-up photos with the Grinch
Sunday, Dec. 14 (12pm to 4pm) – Pop-up photos with Santa
Tuesday, Dec. 16 (11am to 3pm) – Pop-up photos with Santa
All the donations made during these events will go to SNP! Come have some Christmas fun by taking photos with Santa and the Grinch! - Gift of Good Food – All cash donations made during our Family Dinner on December 10 and December 17 will go to the Gift of Good Food. The Good Food Boxes have been an incredible resource in helping us meet the needs of families who face food insecurity. Click here for details.

- Spread the word about our campaign to friends, colleagues, and community members and direct them to our Canadahelps website.
- Donate your time by volunteering with us.
- Lead a community fundraiser (food drive, bottle drive, etc) and donate the proceeds to SNP.
