Meet Ali:
Drop In & Program Support Coordinator I am a mama to 4 kiddos and one big naughty dog. I grew up on the prairie and even after living here for the past 17 years, I feel like I’ve stumbled into a special kind of wonderland here on the Island. I love to hike and camp and find new ways to be creative. I love audiobooks and podcasts and watching live music. There are a few important aspects to my job as Drop In & Program Support Coordinator: Most mornings I run drop in playgroups in different spaces throughout SNP. My role in these groups consists of setting up an engaging space, interacting with families and little ones and ending the group with a circle time. With an Early Childhood Education background I feel strongly about providing opportunities for physical, creative and social growth as well as language and literacy development. I try to provide fun, developmentally appropriate and engaging activities in each group. As a parent, I have experienced on a deep level how essential community and connections are to those early years with our little ones and I love being a part of that in families' lives. I love getting to know participants as they attend groups and I love watching children grow before my eyes. This is my dream job in so many ways. The other side of my job is coordinating Program Support. I spend a lot of my time interviewing and chatting with potential volunteers and staff, and finding ways to fit the solutions that they offer into our ever-shifting needs. Each of our programs is run by incredibly capable and knowledgeable facilitators. Our program support team is here to ensure group facilitators can focus on participants and the group they are running. Our program support team consists of staff and volunteers who help in the following ways: Childminding, food preparation, room set up, kitchen clean up, office tasks, food pick up and so much more. Our program support staff and volunteers make our days brighter and our loads lighter and we are so grateful for the time, energy and heart they give to us on a regular basis. I love this community and I feel grateful everyday that I get to be a part of it. |
