Meet Darren:
We’re excited to highlight one of SNP’s wonderful volunteers — Darren! Every Wednesday morning, Darren sets aside time in his week to support our community in a unique and meaningful way. He drives over to Save-On-Foods to pick up leftover baked goods that would otherwise go to waste and delivers them to our Pearkes Kitchen. These delicious items are then shared with families and community members who visit our programs, helping to make sure nothing goes to waste and everyone has a little something extra to enjoy. Darren lives nearby and, because he has access to a car, decided to offer his time and resources to help. His weekly commitment means a lot to us and to the people we serve. Darren is a semi-retired university professor with a background in supply chain and sustainability — so it’s no surprise that preventing food waste and supporting local initiatives is close to his heart. Outside of volunteering, he loves growing local food and staying active with pickleball. We are so grateful for Darren’s time, thoughtfulness, and generosity. Volunteers like him truly make a difference. Thank you, Darren, for being such an important part of our SNP family! 💛🥐 |
