We are so appreciative of the support our programs received this year through the Capital Daily Fundraising campaign! Funds raised will make a big difference to our ability to offer services and programs in the coming year for families, children and youth.
Since 2020, the annual Capital Daily Holiday Drive has helped raise funds to support local families, early childhood education, and parents and caregivers. This year, Capital Daily has partnered with Saanich Neighbourhood Place to raise funds to support these key areas and programs:
1. Inclusive childcare: ensuring little ones with diverse needs are able to attend quality childcare programs with the support and resources they need to succeed, paving the way for better outcomes as they go through school and life;
2. Parent education and support programs: addressing ongoing mental health and wellness needs among parents and caregivers, helping families make connections and build supportive networks and enabling them to take better care of themselves and their children and youth;
3. Food equity services: ensuring we can continue to provide meals and snacks, food resources and education, and community pantry options for families and individuals.
Donated by generous donors to date: $18,210.00
Matched by Capital Daily business donors: $20,100.00
Total raised so far: $ 38,310.00
A big thank you to Capital Daily readers and our generous matching donors! Your support is sincerely appreciated and will make a real difference in the lives of local families.
About Saanich Neighbourhood Place (SNP)
SNP is a registered charitable organization that has been working in the community since 1997, providing programs, services and resources that help families thrive. Our Family Services, which includes parent education and support, family outreach, early years programming, youth services, family support services, and food equity programming. In recent years, the demand for mental health services and outreach has grown exponentially, with more and more families than ever seeking support, information and resources to care for themselves and their children. 'Empowering Moms' is just one of our programs that is in high demand, helping parents find resources and connections during challenging times.
Since 2013, we have offered licensed childcare services in Full o'Beans Preschool, which expanded to include full-day childcare services in 2021 with Full o'Beans Full-time or Beansprouts Infant and Toddler Care. Quality childcare programs for children as young as 1 year until school entry offer families the comfort of knowing their little ones are well cared for while parents work or study, an important concern for all families. When we first opened our doors, we were committed to keeping 10% of our licensed childcare spaces for little ones with extra support needs, a practice we need help to continue offering.
Food equity services and programs are essential to all the work we do as well, as families who struggle to meet their nutritional needs are less able to engage in work, learning or community. We provide the children in our care with meals and snacks everyday, as well as lunches for program participants, weekly dinner programs and community food access.
