Parent Education and Support
Parenting can be a rewarding and challenging job, and it can help to have people to talk to and learn from who understand what you're going through. Our parenting programs offer a variety of options for you to find information and resources or connect with other families like yours. Open to parents with children up to nineteen years old.
Programs include:
Mom's Mental Health Toolkit: An opportunity to connect for support and to learn skills to support mental well-being
Parenting From a Dad's Perspective: A learning opportunity for male identifying parents who are parenting with or without a partner, living with or without their children
Baby Groups (virtual and/or in-person): A place for parents with children up to eighteen months of age to connect. Offered at Royal Oak Neighbourhood House and soon in the SNP Child and Family Centre.
Successful Co-Parenting: Strategies for parents who share child-rearing responsibilities but live apart
You Make Me So Mad: Understanding anger and how to manage it as a parent
My Tween and Me: Parenting your child through the middle years of 8-12
SAFER: Education and support group for parents of trans and non binary youth. Offered as a parent/caregiver session and also as a youth program.
Virtual Parenting: Online discussion group focusing on a variety of topics related to parenting
Nobody's Perfect: An education and discussion group for parents of children new born to five years of age
Young Parents Play and Connect: A play group with discussion for parents under twenty-nine years of age and their children
