Lightening the World Through Giving: 2025 Impact
April 2026
During the 2025 holiday season, Canadians made a meaningful impact through the Light the World Giving Machines. Located in six cities, the kiosks allowed donors to purchase essential items for those in need. More than 100,000 items — valued at $400,000 — were donated to support 25 Canadian and two global non-profit organizations, with 100% of funds going directly to these partners. As one of the recipients, Saanich Neighbourhood Place is using these donations to support children, families and individuals with food, mental health resources and essential care — helping our community not just survive, but thrive. Since 2017, the initiative has raised nearly $97.5 million CAD worldwide, helping millions of people and continuing to grow each year. 👉 [Read the article here]

Patty Hajdu, minister of jobs and families, joined Victoria-area MPs Stephanie McLean and Will Greaves, visited our SNP Child & Family Centre on Friday, October 10th, to announce automatic tax filing for low-income families, an expansion of school food programs, and a renewal of the Canada Strong Pass program.
